Welcome to Tiggity Tag Friday! Where I complete tags and ignore most of the rules! This week I’m giving the ‘Book Snob Book Tag’ a good ol’ crack. It was created by Tia and all the Books so definitely go check out that video after you read my well-thought out answers.
Please sit back and enjoy!
1). Adaptations Snob: Do you always read the book before you see the movie?
As I love to be honest, I’m going to give it to you straight. No.
It depends on the book. If the book fits into a genre that I think I’m going to like, or if it’s a book that’s been sitting on my cursed TBR for 101 years, then I probably will pick it up before I see the movie. If it’s a book that I’ve never heard of/have no interest in reading, I’m more than happy to see the movie before I read the book (if I read the book at all 😨)
2). Format Snob: You can only choose one format to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose? (Physical books, e-books, or audiobooks?)
There’s no real competition for me. I find it hard to read an e-book fast, and I have to be in a certain mood to listen to an audiobook (I just love to fiddle, haha). By elimination, the clear winner is Physical books. They’re so nice to look at and smell and feel. Plus you have them for forever and ever and you can rearrange them and just stare at them some more. What’s not to like?
3). Ship Snob: Would you date/marry a non-reader?
Of course! I may be a single pringle at the moment, but I don’t believe that my partner needs to be a book lover for us to work out. (Though he does have to understand that I will always and forever hoard books and that’s just something he needs to adapt to).
4). Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre, never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?
Probably literary fiction. I can never seem to get into those ‘award winning’ books. No matter how much my heart and brain try to win the war of literary fiction, I find it so very difficult to dive into them and enjoy them.
5). Uber Genre Snob: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?
Young Adult. Forever and always.
And if that’s too broad, I’d probably say fantasy. Only because there’s still so much diversity within the fantasy genre. So yeah, that’s my choice!
6). Community Snob: Which genre do you think recieves the most snobbery from the bookish community?
Romance. Romance always seems to get backlash. I don’t even understand why it gets so much hate? Perhaps it’s because I’m one of the few that admits that I not only like romance but find it relaxing. Romance is the perfect way to read something enjoyable and easy without worrying too much about a complex plot.
7). Snobbery Recipient: Have you ever been snubbed for something you have been reading?
Of course! I think every reader has. I actually can’t think of a particular place or time, but I know it’s happened more than once with a variety of books. I do think it’s even happened with a Sarah J Maas book (which is just blasphemy, those books are amazing). It’s a hard situation to avoid, some readers (and even non-readers) just love to state their opinion, whether it’s wanted or not.
AND THAT’S ALL FOLKS!
I do hope you enjoyed reading through my answers for this one. Don’t forget to jump on over to Tia and all the Books’ YouTube channel to watch her video. She is the creator of this one and did an excellent job. I had an amazing time participating.
