The description of the first novel, Dead Until Dark:
Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Bon Temps, Louisiana. She’s quiet, doesn’t get out much, and tends to mind her own business–except when it comes to her “disability.” Sookie can read minds. And that doesn’t make her too dateable. Then along comes Bill Compton. He’s tall, dark, handsome–and Sookie can’t hear a word he’s thinking. He’s exactly the type of guy she’s been waiting for all her life… But Bill has a disability of his own: he’s a vampire with a bad reputation. And when a string of murders hits Bon Temps–along with a gang of truly nasty bloodsuckers looking for Bill–Sookie starts to wonder if having a vampire for a boyfriend is such a bright idea.

HAMLET – William Shakespeare
A classic script.

Among Shakespeare’s plays, Hamlet is considered by many his masterpiece. The play, set in Denmark, recounts how Prince Hamlet exacts revenge on his uncle Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet’s father, the King, and then taken the throne and married Gertrude, Hamlet’s mother. The play vividly charts the course of real and feigned madness—from overwhelming grief to seething rage—and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption.

Blogger’s note: This isn’t my edition of Hamlet, as I couldn’t find the one I own on the web 🙂

LADY AUDLEY’S SECRET – Mary Elizabeth Braddon
A classic novel.

In this outlandish, outrageous triumph of Scandal fiction, a new Lady Audley arrives at the manor: young, beautiful – and very mysterious. Why does she behave so strangely? What, exactly, is the dark secret this seductive outsider carries with her?
A huge success in the nineteenth century, the book revels in an anti-heroine – with her good looks and hidden past – who embodied perfectly the concerns of the Victorian age with morality and madness

THE LAST FOUR THINGS – Paul Hoffman
The second book in The Left Hand of God series.

The description of the first novel, The Left Hand of God:
The Sanctuary of the Redeemers is a vast and desolate place—a place without joy or hope. Most of its occupants were taken there as boys and for years have endured the brutal regime of the Lord Redeemers whose cruelty and violence have one singular purpose—to serve in the name of the One True Faith.
In one of the Sanctuary’s vast and twisting maze of corridors stands a boy. He is perhaps fourteen or fifteen years old—he is not sure and neither is anyone else. He has long-forgotten his real name, but now they call him Thomas Cale. He is strange and secretive, witty and charming, violent and profoundly bloody-minded. He is so used to the cruelty that he seems immune, but soon he will open the wrong door at the wrong time and witness an act so terrible that he will have to leave this place, or die.
His only hope of survival is to escape across the arid Scablands to Memphis, a city the opposite of the Sanctuary in every way: breathtakingly beautiful, infinitely Godless, and deeply corrupt.
But the Redeemers want Cale back at any price… not because of the secret he now knows but because of a much more terrifying secret he does not.

TORN – Amanda Hocking
The second book in the Trylle series.

The description of the first novel, Switched:

INHERITANCE – Christopher Paolini
The fourth book in The Inheritance Cycle.

The description of the first novel,  Eragon:

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds. Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands. . . .

STALKING JACK THE RIPPER – Kerri Maniscalco
The first book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series.
